Baroque Dance

Baroque Stage Dances for Beginners and Advanced Dancers

When King Louis XIV decided to no longer perform in the court ballets himself, a decisive turning point in dance history occurred: social court dance and professional stage dance henceforth developed along their own paths. From the elegant Danses de Bal to the highly demanding Entrées, a rich and fascinating repertoire from this era has been preserved for us. I cordially invite you to discover the aesthetic depth and beauty of this historical form of movement.

The couple and solo dances of the Baroque are characterized by an incomparable grace. They bring the entire body into a harmonious unison, where supple footwork and stylish arm movements merge into perfect unity. In this class, you will gain a profound insight into the perfectly formed world of these dances.

Every Tuesday we dedicate ourselves to the stage dances of the 18th century – that art form in which the roots of classical ballet are found. You will learn the fine coordination of movements as well as the elegant variety of figures, as they were once presented in the great operas and ballets.

The lessons are designed to offer experienced dancers the opportunity to refine their technique in historical dance, while simultaneously providing a structured and easily comprehensible introduction for interested individuals without prior dance experience.

Ladies and gentlemen without a fixed dance partner are also exceedingly welcome at all times. The structure of the lessons allows us to immerse ourselves together in the elegant world of Baroque dance and to cultivate the steps both in solo and in constant rotation within the group. I look forward to reviving this glamorous era of dance history with you.
